JUST ASK

Mark 7:20-23 NIV‬
 

He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.” 

¶In the passage preceding this, Jesus gives us a nitty-gritty description of what comes out of a person's body. Jesus knew of the uncleanness and defilement of the ones He came to redeem. Getting down and washing His disciple's feet represents that kind of love. Have you ever bandaged a wound, or opened an abscess, or disimpacted a person's bowel? Yes, as a physician, I have. When we do, we reflect the love of Jesus that casts out the natural feelings of disgust and rejection at what comes out of a person. But doctors can only go so deep to remove corrupt flesh. Jesus, though, is the greatest physician. He can go deeper, to the heart of a person. As disgusting as our hearts naturally are, His love is greater. This is about more than just about being healed. It is about becoming healers. The healing that religious leaders of His time could not do with their chants and incantations, Jesus accomplished with a word.  His word still lives in these writings. The only thing Jesus sought in all Israel was faith in Him. When we but ask, He will send the Holy Spirit to replace what Ezekiel called "the heart of stone" with "a heart of flesh". Just ask. Then everything else falls into place. In what ways have you healed/been healed by Jesus?

    I praise God for both your practice of journaling and your entries
    This one on Healing I stumbled upon and your years of service as a good physician struck me... last week's Eucharistic Congress we attended drew all 50,000 into our need for repentance and healing of wounds
