AN ALIEN RIGHTEOUSNESS

‭1 Corinthians 1:30 ESV‬
And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 

¶Remember this when the psalmist, in Psalm 18 for example, says "the Lord has dealt with me according to my righteousness". It's not his righteousness. Any motive we have to gain our own righteousness is out of self-interest and is a failure at its heart. Our need is for what's called an "alien righteousness", coming from outside of ourselves, but uniting with us in our hearts.  Now, then, and always, God has made Christ the source of our righteousness.

Psalm 36:10‭-‬11 ESV ¶The goal of the evil one is just to deprive us, not to have for himself the blessing of knowing God, just to take it away from us, just to drive us off the holy ground procured for us at the foot of the cross.

He asks their opinion. He asks them to inquire of the Lord for themselves, and decide. They have the opportunity to bring the ark of God close to them in their midst.
