WHOSE PLEASURE IS IT?
Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our
God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good
pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: that the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him,
according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 KJV
¶Whose
pleasure is it when 2 Thess 1:11 refers to the pleasure of fullfilling
our calling? Luke 2:14 uses the same term to refer to God's pleasure, or
goodwill, towards us. "Eudokia", meaning "our every good pleasure", or
"our every resolve for good" may mean either man's pleasure in
fulfilling our purpose, or God's pleasure in seeing men fulfilling their
purpose. Either way, this is the high pleasure I will seek.
