WHAT DOES JACOB SEE IN JUDAH?
"Judah, your brothers shall praise you;
your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; your father's sons
shall bow down before you.
Genesis 49:8 ESV
¶Judah was by no means
the best of his father's sons. He would take a Canaanite wife, and then
go on to have incest with his daughter-in-law Tamar. But he was the
most blessed. It was from his line that the true heir to the covenant
promise of God would arise, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus went about calling
Himself Son of Man, placing Himself in the line of these sinful, broken
people, but also Son of God, not only as heir but as agent and guarantor
of these covenant promises, fashioned from within the perfect love of
Father and Son from eternity past on behalf of a people promised by the
Father to the Son. This includes us, if we by faith accept it.
