THE WAY BACK TO THE GARDEN
Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?" Then the Lord God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—" He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life. Genesis 3:7, 11, 22, 24 ESV
¶The flaming sword goes back and forth on the way back to the garden.
Protecting the tree of eternal life from pretenders such as me.
Was it good to grasp the forbidden fruit
And pretend to call it righteousness?
And you, my soul, would you still self-justify
When before you stands not the flaming sword,
But the Spirit and the Bride crying “come”?
