FIRST KNOW WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR

The proud beasts have not trodden it; the lion has not passed over it. "Man puts his hand to the flinty rock and overturns mountains by the roots. He cuts out channels in the rocks, and his eye sees every precious thing. He dams up the streams so that they do not trickle, and the thing that is hidden he brings out to light.

"But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? Man does not know its worth, and it is not found in the land of the living. And he said to man, 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.'"
Job 28:12-13, 28 ESV



¶The technological prowess of man long ago exceeded that of all other creatures. Yet we have not figured out how to live, because of the veil of sin that clouds our understanding. No utopian system of man has yet solved the problem of man's sinful self-interest. The apostle Paul likens our communal relations to a body, in which all parts work to support each other. Yet the pains to which he goes to point this out is evidence its not working. Yet those same words, spoken in admonition, become life and health to the ones who fear the Lord and trust His Word.

Psalm 36:10‭-‬11 ESV ¶The goal of the evil one is just to deprive us, not to have for himself the blessing of knowing God, just to take it away from us, just to drive us off the holy ground procured for us at the foot of the cross.
