SANCTIFY JESUS
But even if you should suffer for the sake of
righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and
do not be in dread, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always
being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an
account for the hope that is in you, but with gentleness and respect;

Theologians
will distinguish between our justification and our sanctification. They
tell us that our role in justification is passive, but sanctification
requires our active participation. Interesting to note what that
participation looks like, though. Peter does not say to sanctify
ourselves. He says sanctify Jesus in our hearts. As we look upon Him, he
will get bigger, and we will get smaller in our gaze. What does it mean
to you to look to Him?
