And the Rabshakeh said to them, "Say to Hezekiah, 'Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: On what do you rest this trust of yours? Do you think that mere words are strategy and power for war? In whom do you now trust, that you have rebelled against me?
2 Kings 18:19‭-‬20 ESV

Hezekiah must learn the bitter lesson. There is no compromise with the enemy. In exile, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had learned the lesson, "even if God does not deliver us, we will not serve your gods." What is it we do not compromise? God tells us. "If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all." Isaiah 7:9 ESV
