PSALM WE NOW OF CHRISTMAS
He sent out his word and healed them, and
delivered them from their destruction. Let them thank the Lord for his
steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! And let
them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of his deeds in songs of
joy!
Psalm 107:20-22 ESV
The Word of the Father, now in
flesh appearing, invites us to receive from God the blessings of healing
and deliverance, and much more. He offers thirsty people not just
water, but a spring of water, welling up to eternal life, to never be
thirsty again, a river of living water, flowing out of us. He offers us
not just healing, but a return, not just to the life we had before we
got sick or injured, but a return all the way back to the garden, to
fellowship with Him, as Adam and Eve walked with Him in the cool of the
day. We may actually participate in the divine nature through the very
great and precious promises He has given us (2 Peter 1:4). God's Word
does not just go forth and do some things and then depart. It came, He
comes, to stay, to dwell among us.
So God imparts
To human hearts
The blessings of His Heaven.
He comes to us,
abides with us,
Our Lord Immanuel!
Jesus
is so close, isn't He? The Kingdom is right here. It flickers in the
corner of the eye, bidding us to turn and gaze. Zaccheus in the tree,
the woman with the blood-issue, the little children, the man born blind,
Nathaniel under the fig tree: Jesus noticed them all, and bid them
come. When we slow down and stop thinking about ourselves long enough,
we can't miss it!
