DEEP THOUGHTS ABOUT GOD ON HIGH

How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep! The stupid man cannot know; the fool cannot understand this: that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever; but you, O Lord, are on high forever.
Psalm 92:5‭-‬8 ESV

¶It seems that most people go about living their lives as if things will always be as they are now. "in the days of Lot, people were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all" (Luke 17:28-29). Jesus also gives those in the days of Noah as an example of this. But is not just that people who misbehave will be punished. It is that we have been given a span of life to invest for eternal reward. We have even been given a glimpse of that reward, when glory and honor, dominion and power, are ultimately and finally returned to the One to whom they are due.

And we are fools to look to our religion therapeutically, solely as a means to promote "human flourishing" or to make us feel better. God's kingdom will promote human flourishing. When we work for it, we say not only with our words, but also with our deeds, "come quickly, Lord Jesus".
