GOD DELIVERS US FROM HIMSELF

But to the wicked God says, “What right have you to tell of My statutes And to take My covenant in your mouth? For you hate discipline, And you cast My words behind you. “Now consider this, you who forget God, Or I will tear you in pieces, and there will be none to deliver. He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me; And to him who orders his way aright I shall show the salvation of God.”
 Psalms 50:16-17, 22-23

¶There is One who judges and disciplines. We would all like to be that judge. I have seen two-year-olds hit and slap when they think they are being treated unfairly. I have also seen how quickly they back down and become happy and calm when an adult intervenes and establishes peace. Friedrich Nietzsche wrote of the place of the "übermensch", the over-man who would drive us forward and establish order by the exercise of his will. He even had a cool name for him. He called him "Zarathustra". But Nietzsche also recognized the risk of complete annihilation that accompanies the exercise of such will to power. The great wars of the twentieth century confirm this. I was once asked by a Muslim "If we forgive wrongdoing, how would society keep order?" This is what Nietzsche hated about Christianity: "How could justice and mercy be intermingled? "It would break the world. There must be consequences! But this is why God Himself allowed Himself to be broken instead. The curtain was torn apart, light disappeared from the sky, the very solid earth shook, that we might be healed.
