GOD'S WORK AMONG THE WORLDLY
The sound of a tumult is on the mountains as of a great multitude! The sound of an uproar of kingdoms, of nations gathering together! The Lord of hosts is mustering a host for battle. They come from a distant land, from the end of the heavens, the Lord and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.
Isaiah 13:4-5 ESV
¶This multitude raises itself up, not against God Himself but against His people, and not because of His people's allegiance to their God, but because of their rebellion against God. The scorn His people endure is not so much directed against their God as against their representation of Him. The church is scorned by the world not because of how much it resembles God, but because of how little, not because of how little, but because of how much it resembles the world itself. This too is God's working.
